A snippet into some of the harsh truths I had with myself this month as I reflected on what I’ve learnt and where I’m going. I hope this encourages anyone in a similar position to do the same…
Izzy it goes without saying that this year has forced your strength, self reflection and faith to be tested and taken to new heights, and you know in your heart that none of that was in vain. You feel both excited and anxious for this year ahead, because you know that everything you have just been through was actually preparing you for what you’re about to do and who you need to become. Take this time to recap over the key lessons life has taught you this year, to equip you for where you’re about to go…
1.BE BRUTALLY HONEST WITH YOURSELF – I have to be hard on me because I believe in me and who God created me to be, so lets keep it all the way real…
are you happy? like truly happy with where you are at right now? what or who is causing you stress? Are the people you surround yourself with good for you and where your headed? what keeps you going? what are your biggest motivations? career? love? finances? legacy? what are your desires? whats causing you to have doubts? Do they bring out the best in me? Do you want to get in better shape? what are your biggest flaws currently? what do you really need to work on, to become a better you?
2. QUIET THE NOISE AND FIND HIS VOICE .
For some reason this phrase has been ringing in your mind all month long! Why? God has been trying to speak to you directly and answer all your questions, you can very faintly hear his voice wayyy in the background, but it’s virtually impossible to pinpoint what he’s saying because of all the distractions, work, gigs, parties, bbqs, weddings, link ups, socials, events, Netflix shows, self doubt, lack of self discipline, pride, fear, pain, that you let occupy 99.9% of your space and time.
One of your top priorities this year is true peace of mind. The level of peace you desire can only be attained by letting God be your director in this ever changing movie called life.
3. LET YOUR FAITH BE YOUR EVERYTHING!
As in EVERYTHINGGG. Stop telling God YOUR plan for your life and start actually listening to His. You have wasted far too much time and tears trying to ‘plan out the year’ or ‘think of the long term goal’. You didn’t ask God to lead at the very beginning of that thought process, yet you’re trying so hard to squeeze him in at the end.
4. PRIORITISE YOUR TIME.
You have so many talents that have inevitably birthed so many goals and desires in you, but none of these things will actually happen if you don’t start setting aside and dedicating time to develop them into fruition. Value your time in a way that will force you to pay close attention to who and what you spend your time on the most. Do you have to go to every single wedding or birthday? no. Will that Netflix show still be there tomorrow? yes. Can you wholeheartedly say you’ve dedicated an adequate amount of time to your desires on a regular or daily basis. Take your consistency up a notch. You can’t keep track of your progress if you aren’t making any.
5. VALUE YOURSELF.
Enough is enough. The bare minimum or even average just isn’t acceptable anymore. You deserve the best. Your voice matters. Your opinions matter. You are a treasure. A precious jewel that God adores so much. You owe it to God to push out all those talents inside you. You deserve a man whose words, actions, and efforts are a constant reminder of how much God sees you and cherishes you. If they want you, they will invest in you, work for you and treasure you. You deserve honesty, consistency, effort and loyalty. Under no circumstances is any form of disrespect or violence, etc acceptable in any environment. You are a Queen. Half hearted efforts and the bare minimum are not enough in this life. Do not settle for mediocre opportunities, friendships or jobs. Do not sell yourself short. Work that extra bit harder to get the best. Put some respect on yourself and others will be forced to do the same. Let the way you treat you as well as how others treat you, be a reflection of how God wants you to be treated.
6. EVERY GIFT YOU HAVE WAS GIVEN TO YOU FOR A REASON.
There is a reason you can’t shake those desires. There is a reason you can’t pinpoint why you are good at it and where it came from. There is a specific person/people attached to what your specific purpose has to offer. Stop running from it based on feeling inadequate by the worlds standards. You are good enough. Explore it all and let God direct you in your progression
7. THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER YOU.
Comparison is not the only the thief of joy but the thief of uniqueness. Social media will consistently try to subliminally influence, label or stereotype you into a desire to be ‘relevant’, ‘popular’ or ‘pretty’. Keep doing exactly what you’re doing and enjoy being different. Explore, develop and Celebrate what makes you unique. That is your greatest secret weapon, and that in itself will set your apart and put you in places and positions beyond your wildest dreams.
8. TO KEEP GROWING YOU HAVE TO KEEP GOING.
Quitters never win and winners never quit. You can always work harder. Its okay not to be okay sometimes, but don’t allow yourself to stay moping around wallowing in your what ifs. None of your dreams to own your own business, buy a new car, get married, loose/gain weight, get your own home, will come to pass if you don’t
plan+ stay productive = Progress
9. SELF LOVE IS ESSENTIAL!!
Set aside time to treat yourself. Get a massage. Go to a nail salon. Go on a retreat. Get your hair done. Make that 4th session in the gym this week. Get taken on a date that someone has put real effort into planning. Plan something that excites you to look forward to. Love yourself enough to be certain of what you deserve. You are responsible for the environments you place yourself in. Take time each month to remind yourself of what makes you great on both the inside and out.
10. THE SAFEST PLACE IN THE WHOLE WORLD IS IN THE WILL OF GOD
The greatest joy and peace of mind you will ever experience in life is in the will of God. You can waste more time wracking your brain, ignoring your gut, suppressing your pain and masking your uncertainty, or you can just take a deep breathe, release the weight, and submit to commit to following Gods plan, regardless of what the journey looks like.
As long as you have Him you EVERYTHING yes EVERYTHING you need.
Its about to be the best year of life. Trust God.
Happy Birthday to me 🙂
